Overview

 

In a strategic move that reshapes the off-highway engine market, DEUTZ AG has officially taken over the sales and service activities for selected Daimler Truck industrial engines from Rolls-Royce Power Systems. From January 1, 2025, all service activities for these engines are handled exclusively by authorized DEUTZ partners, ensuring continuity and enhanced support for existing customers.

The transaction includes the distribution and servicing of Daimler Truck engines with displacements ranging from 5 to 16 liters and power outputs of up to 480 kW. These engines, previously marketed under the mtu brand by Rolls-Royce Power Systems, are widely used in agricultural machinery and construction equipment. The deal encompasses both the newer mtu 1000 to 1500 series and the legacy mtu Classic model series, based on Daimler Truck’s OM900 and OM460 platforms.

Engine Series Overview

The portfolio includes both current production models and classic series, all based on Daimler’s proven OM platform. These engines span displacements from 5 to 16 liters and deliver power outputs of up to 480 kW, making them suitable for everything from mid-sized agricultural machinery to heavy-duty mining equipment.

  • OM934 (TCD 5.1 L4) – A compact 4-cylinder engine ideal for mid-sized construction and agricultural equipment.
  • OM936 (TCD 7.7 L6) – A versatile 6-cylinder engine used in tractors, harvesters, and industrial machinery.
  • OM470 (TCD 10.7 L6) – Designed for heavy-duty applications like earthmoving and forestry.
  • OM471 (TCD 12.8 L6) – High-output engine for demanding industrial tasks and large mobile equipment.

Legacy and MTU-Compatible Engines

DEUTZ also supports classic Daimler engines such as the OM460, OM500, and OM900 series. These engines share architecture with certain MTU models, allowing DEUTZ to offer consistent service and parts availability across both legacy and cross-branded platforms

These engines are engineered for off-highway environments, including:
